Contract Senior D&IT ETRM Project Manager

Agilus is recruiting for a Contract Senior D&IT ETRM Project Manager in the oil & gas sector in Calgary, Alberta.
Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of large, complex Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) solutions. Reporting to the Manager of Major Project Delivery, Data and Information Technology (D&IT), this role will provide leadership by coordinating D&IT dependencies and deliverables, driving collaboration between D&IT, the Systems Integrator, and business units, and ensuring project milestones are met on time, on budget, and within scope.

  • 12 months of contract position
  • 5 days on / 2 days off

A typical day:
  • Delivery: Overall responsibility for delivery of ETRM and related solutions, Leadership & Collaboration: Lead collaboration efforts between D&IT, Systems Integrator and senior business leaders within ETRM. Foster strong relationships across the organization to ensure seamless execution of solution delivery.Strategic Roadmap Development: Shape and refine the project roadmap by aligning it with the broader D&IT technical strategies. Identify and mitigate potential risks to ensure project success.
  • D&IT Coordination: Act as the single point of accountability for D&IT-related activities. Coordinate efforts across multiple D&IT teams, driving urgency in execution and removing obstacles to keep projects on track, Business-Technical Alignment: Understand the business objectives of ETRM and translate these into clear, actionable work packages for D&IT teams. Ensure solutions are feasible, scalable, and sustainable within the technology infrastructure.
  • Innovation Partnership: Develop and sustain a fast-paced R&D and innovation collaboration between ETRM and D&IT, fostering a forward-thinking, results-oriented environment. Demand Prioritization: Balance the competing needs of ETRM and other D&IT projects, ensuring the effective allocation of resources while maintaining alignment with business priorities.
  • Performance Tracking & Reporting: Monitor program KPIs and provide regular updates to leadership. Use data-driven insights to inform decisions and ensure the program stays aligned with key success metrics.
  • Pressure Resilience: Demonstrated ability to thrive under pressure, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and compelling manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proficient in delivering executive-level presentations and reports.
  • Strategic Thinking: Adept at developing strategic visions, roadmaps, and detailed execution plans, with the ability to pivot and adapt as required by evolving business needs, Innovation & Problem Solving: A creative thinker who is comfortable navigating ambiguity. Focused on driving progress through innovative solutions and a collaborative mindset.
  • Business-IT Translator: Strong capability to bridge the gap between business goals and technical execution, ensuring mutual understanding and alignment across all project teams, Vendor Management: Demonstrated experience in managing vendor to ensure adherence to scope of work, performance and cost management.
  • Change Management: Experienced in leading change within large-scale digital programs, with the ability to bring key stakeholders along in the transformation journey, Results-Driven: A relentless focus on outcomes, ensuring that digital projects deliver tangible business value on time and within budget.

Successful candidates will have:
  • Education: Post-secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 12 years in IT and/or ETRM Business, with substantial experience in leadership roles managing ETRM Projects.
  • Project Management Expertise: Proven track record of leading multi-year, high-budget projects from inception through to successful completion. Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies is desirable.
  • Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of digital technologies, enterprise systems, and IT infrastructure. Previous experience with ETRM Systems (including RightAngle and Allegro), cloud technologies, and data governance initiatives is preferred.
  • Certification: PMP certification is an asset. Additional certifications in Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum) or IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL) are highly advantageous.
  • Negotiation & Communication: Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Strategic Alignment: Demonstrated experience in aligning program deliverables with broader organizational strategies, ensuring that digital initiatives are fully integrated into the company’s long-term goals.
